This workshop for dance and theatre professionals by Esa Kirkkopelto searches for a connection to a performing body that is not tied to any specific mode or style of performing arts, but is able to move/escape/slip from one space and situation to another and create surprising combinations.
The key notion is the relationship to language and the imaginary. How to put to play the bodily interruptions brought about by language – via the commands of a director, a choreographer, or a score or a fictional text? How to turn the interruptions into transitions? How to learn to create them and operate using them? How to combine movement and speech? Or pleasure and thinking? All workshop participants also create a short solo performance from materials selected by themselves.
