This performance aims to activate the archaic and energetic transgenerational archives of both performer and spectator. Two bodies on stage in altered states, traveling through internal archives beyond the personal biographical body and the immediate conscious mind. Channeling rather than presenting or representing. Immersed with their epigenetic imprinting they hover on the borders between the unfamiliar and the hyper familiar, serving as a reflection of and a gateway into the history of our shared subconscious territories and altered states of resonance.
The performance Boundless Ominous Fields goes a step further into Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir's long term phenomenological exploration of altered states of consciousness through embodiment. Created with and for Finnish performers Karolina Ginman and Marlon Moilanen, it is the first work in a trilogy commissioned by the two performers.

“Artistically and methodologically I work with expressions of physiological, psychological and emotional realities including archetypal patterns, as well as a phenomenological exploration of our matter. I do that through a dialog with formerly dormant unconscious parts of ourselves using somatic body work.
During the working process of Boundless Ominous Fields we have built on my 14-year research into the somatic practice FULL DROP into the body. We have explored altered states of perception relying on the science of deep tissue release towards heightened sense of bodily perception and expanded self-awareness.
The performers unwind the matter allowing the body to release tension in the depth and in that way to open up and become a vessel for channeling and self-expression beyond the cognitive. We enter into a dialog with generational archives and passed-on trauma patterns and related energetic realities dormant and originating within the cellular body and subconsciousness.
As a choreographer I compose experiences that are meant to vibrate energetically at the core of omnipresent pathological states of embodied beings induced by current and ancient conditioning and transference.
When I use the term pathologies I am referring to the practical fact that our bodies reflect our current and former experiences, conditioned patterns, as well as genetic imprint. Including traumatic events from our biographical history which we carry with us in a literal sense. Therefore all internal and animated motorised movements of the body reflect pathological (non-optimal functioning) inner systems and scarred and contracted tissue.
The audience may be confronted by pathology, but this is done to initiate release and transformation and further cognitive and physical processes on the topic, not to re-traumatise.”

Karolina Ginman is a Helsinki-based freelance dancer and choreographer. Through her artistic practice she tempts the body to speak beyond reason, opening gateways for poetic material to bloom from the subjective and collective preconscious. Ginman’s latest stage works include Fluvial (2022), A Human Ensemble (2020) and together with Rasmus Slätis Gräns/Hermes (2022). She regularly collaborates with choreographers Elina Pirinen, Mikko Niemistö, Margrét Sara Guđjónsdóttir among others, and has engaged in several working periods with Deborah Hay in Finland and the US. Her work is supported by the three year Finnish state grant for artists 2023-25.
Berlin-based Icelandic choreographer Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir studied dance in Holland and worked as a performer with various performance makers around Europe during the period 2001-2014. She co-founded the production house Panic Productions in Iceland which was active from 2004–2009 and focused on producing and initiating collaborative performance works with international artists for the Icelandic stage and beyond it. At the same time and until this day she has lived in Berlin showing and creating her own performance works internationally.
During the last 14 years the choreographic work have been focus on addressing the pathological imprint of the social political body within our own bodies and its de-conditioning as well as developing the somatic deep tissue release practice FULL DROP into the body. She considers her work involving de-conditioning as a direct political gesture and activism. In the larger sense her performance works engage in the ongoing discussion of healing, interconnectedness and notions of energetic citizenship within the choreographic context.
Marlon Moilanen is a dancer based in Helsinki, Finland. Performing mainly in the realms of contemporary dance and performance, he works with a psychic and soulfully experienced body, which allows the contradictory human being to be seen on stage – where sensitivity, darkness and humor are often in intimate relations. Recently he has collaborated with choreographers Sonja Jokiniemi, Maija Hirvanen, Sonya Lindfors, Liisa Pentti, Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir and Karolina Ginman. Background in socio-legal perspectives inspire also his artistic interests e.g. on the political possibilities of the body and questions of disagreement and consensus at contemporary stages.
Sofia Palillo is a visual designer from Helsinki. She is fascinated by spaces, atmospheres and landscapes. She is especially interested in minimalism, illusion, incomprehensibility and radicality of sensitiveness. She enjoys equal and collective working environment. Sofia has graduated with master degree in lighting design in the University of the Arts Helsinki in 2020. She works as a lighting and spatial designer in performing arts.
Inari Pesonen is a Helsinki-based freelance contemporary dance and performance producer. She has been working as a freelancer since 2017. Before this, she worked as Project Producer for Zodiak – Center for New Dance in 2015-17. She has studied Contemporary Dance at Chichester University, UK and Art History at University of Turku, Finland. During the years 2017-21 Pesonen worked as the producer of dance company Liisa Pentti +Co. At the moment, Pesonen works with several working groups and artists in the field such as Sivuun Ensemble, Rakkaudesta ensemble, choreographer Jenni Kivelä and director Esa Kirkkopelto.
Lucy Railton is a cellist and composer based in Berlin and London focused on improvisation, contemporary and electronic music. She has released her own music on Modern Love, Editions Mego - GRM Portraits, PAN (with Peter Zinovieff), Takuroku and SN Variations and is currently involved in projects with Rebecca Salvadori, Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith, Kali Malone, Stephen O’Malley, Khyam Allami and in the presentation of works by Maryanne Amacher, Iannis Xenakis, Morton Feldman and Ellen Arkbro. Her engagement with this repertoire has occasioned extensive explorations of resonance, psychoacoustics, synthesis and microtonality, preoccupations that are ever present in her own work. Railton has also composed and co-created the dance production ‘Everything that rises must dance’ (Complicité) with director Sasha Milavic Davis and toured world wide as a performing musician in Akram Khan’s dance production ‘Gnosis’.
