Bad Ideas for a Group is a workshop that discombobulates the body and frees the mind. Together we will sweat, move, think, un-think, go wild and run free in an attempt to create the BEST performances EVER whilst simultaneously making the worst performances ever. If you don’t know what that means, GREAT! Come along to this workshop with choreographer and performance maker Natalie Abbott to get lost in your dancing body and feel inspired to go lateral with your creative thinking.
This workshop is focused on using choreography and related thinking to consider alternate ways to construct and deconstruct performance. We begin with the dancing body, use that to delve into the critical mind and move through a series of practices, physical and philosophical to create a series of mini performance experiments that emerge as a result of the constellation of the group dynamic. We will work with the principals of virtuosity, physical failure and good/bad dancing to explore vulnerability as a way to access a kind of ‘realness’ or ‘honesty’ (whatever that means) in performance practice.

Natalie Abbott is an Australian performance maker/choreographer. She is passionate about creating strange and uplifting experiences for audiences, subverting expectations and finding unique ways to construct and de-construct performance. She is currently developing her body of work through residencies around the world. Natalie työskentelee Helsingissä keväällä 2018 HIAP residenssitaiteilijana.

Zodiakin järjestämiä kursseja ja työpajoja voi maksaa myös kulttuuri- ja liikuntaseteleillä (Smartum Oy) sekä virikeseteleillä (Edenred Oy). Voit maksaa seteleillä kurssin ensimmäisellä kerralla tai tuoda setelit Zodiakin toimistoon sen aukioloaikoina (arkisin klo 11-16). Kursseja ei ole mahdollista maksaa käteisellä.
