Young people from East Helsinki: a summer job possibility!

As a summer worker you will join our team in the making of a video art piece realized through dance, movement and text. Choreographer Ama Kyei and video artist Wanda Holopainen will create the piece together with the selected participant. 

You don't need to have a background in dance, but we do expect following:

• you are an East Helsinki resident, live in Kontula or are otherwise familiar with the area
• enthusiasm for art, dance and/or spoken word
• great teamwork and cooperation skills
• desire and courage to perform on video and possibly film yourself
• motivation to develop your own movement or verbal expression under the guidance of professionals

You can apply if you are between 14 and 19 years old. We particularly encourage young people from diverse cultural backgrounds to apply. We consider it an advantage if you are eligible for a summer job voucher (Kesätyöseteli).

The work time is 60 hours and the period is from 8 to 26 July 2024. 

During the summer period, you will work on movement exercises, word art workshops and filming video material. The work will take place in the Kontula area and we will work outdoors part of the time. The work may also include days to be agreed separately, during which the summer workers will be able to participate in the editing of the work. 

The salary is 500€ and we offer the job for up to 10 young people. (For printed version: Please apply by filling the application form by 12.4.2024. 

We will invite applicants to audition on 19th April at 15-18. The audition will take place in the Kontula youth center Luuppi. If you are unable to attend, please let us know and we will try to arrange an alternative way for you to participate.
