We are now calling for applications in the Zodiak CoProduction category for productions that premiere in 2026.

This year, the CoProduction category is only open to artists from or working in Finland. We will develop our international co-production model during the autumn. Our next international co-productions will focus on the Nordic-Baltic framework. Please follow Zodiak's communication throughout the autumn for more information. 

The CoProduction support includes:

  • a co-production support of 20 000 €, to cover salaries and performance fees (alv 0%) (will be revised yearly)
  • approximately 4 to 6 weeks of studio time in 2025//2026
  • at least 1 week of rehearsal time on the stage before the premiere
  • a performance venue and Zodiak Stage’s own technical equipment
  • assistance from Zodiak's technical staff in the build-up, take down and the performances
  • consulting in productional and technical matters
  • pre-production and press pictures of the work, a teaser and video recording of the finished work
  • general communications including promotional material through various channels and, where appropriate, marketing
  • audience engagement activities, where appropriate 
  • ticket sales
  • mentoring support and partnership with the artistic director of Zodiak
  • the opportunity for assistance in the tour production planning and management 

The aim is to have 8 to 12 performances on the Zodiak Stage. The minimum audience capacity at Zodiak Stage is 75 per evening.

For visiting and re-run performances, the production support and the number of performances are negotiated separately.

Zodiak requires the working groups for premiere productions to have:

  • a person in charge who liaises with Zodiak
  • an artistic design team
  • a realistic production plan, which must be realised in order to conclude a partial production contract 
  • a realistic budget (note: in addition to Zodiak's co-production support, a self-financing contribution) 
  • active involvement in the production of marketing materials and the communication for the work

Co-production agreements will no longer be concluded with private individuals, but the working groups selected for CoProduction must have a registered legal entity as a partner at the time of the conclusion of the co-production agreement, which can act as Zodiak's contractual partner and invoice Zodiak for the co-production support. Zodiak still can pay a fee to an individual in the Zodiak Laboratory category.

Together with the productions selected for the programme, we will examine the realistic possibilities of realising the production along the way, up to the conclusion of the co-production contract. Until then, programming decisions are conditional.
