The course given by Giorgio Convertito utilises simple focused explorations and attentive listening of body systems and structures, i.e. the skeleton, the torso, the feet, the skin and so on. Through this practice we will learn how to allow for and discover movement, and to refine our physical awareness and presence. Listening to what the body has to say will generate personal, genuine and imaginative movement that will be channeled into focused improvisations. Most of the work will be done as solo, with some duet and group work, where we will also have a chance to look at compositional and performative elements.
This type of practice applies to any level of experience, starting from the premise that anybody can dance with a somatic approach to movement. The course is taught both in Finnish and in English.
Giorgio Convertito is an italian dancer and dance maker based in Helsinki. He holds a BA in dance and choreography from the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam and has worked since 1993 as a dancer and a choreographer around Europe. Since 2006 he has been organizing and curating The Helsinki Meeting Point, a multidisciplinary improvisation event whose main purpose is to cultivate unlimited free improvisation in Helsinki. He is the initiator and the artistic leader of the dance and music group Liquid.

Cancellations must be communicated on the last cancellation day by 4 pm the latest. Please check this course's last day of cancellation from above. With the exception of injuries and illnesses certified in writing by a doctor, cancellations made later than the deadline are subject to full course fee.
Zodiak's courses and workshops can also be paid using pre-paid Liikuntaseteli and Kulttuuriseteli vouchers (Smartum Oy) as well as Virikeseteli vouchers (Edenred Oy). You can pay with the vouchers in the beginning of the first class (only exact amounts) or you can bring the vouchers to Zodiak office (open weekdays 11 am to 4 pm). It is not possible to pay the course fee with cash.
