This course welcomes you to an in-depth exploration of the theme of womanhood. Through the ages, women have been mystified, subjugated and consecrated. Do you allow yourself to be defined from the outside? Do you set yourself limitations, conditions and definitions? Do you have to block or mute some aspects of yourself? What does it mean for you to be a woman? What kind of woman do you want to be? What kind of connection do you have to your sexuality?

The objective of this course is to open a channel for the exploration of our deep essence, to make the search for the acceptance of others a little less important, and to allow us to live without making excuses for what we are or what we want to be. Course activities consist of gentle physical exercises (including Authentic Movement* exercises), activities based on images and mythic stories, and guided group discussions. The course is a continuation course for students who have completed the first part, but is also excellent for first-timers. It is a confidential and therapeutic opportunity to explore the experiences of the lived body. No preliminary skills are required.

The content of the course is based on an understanding of gender and sexuality as multi-dimensional structures of interaction. It is inspired by the notion of psychoanalyst and author Elina Reenkola and Ph.D. and storyteller Clarissa Pinkola Estés of a brave, savage woman who feels a longing for a deep, instinctual and powerful way of living and refuses to be produced and abridged by the patriarchal culture.

‘On the surface we are still friendly, but beneath our skins we are no longer tame.’  – C. P. Estés

* Authentic Movement is a free-movement method that explores personal experience through movement and interaction. It is based on spontaneous motion with another person participating as an eyewitness. Motion is performed with eyes closed, which makes the sensation and experience deeper. The Authentic Movement method was invented in the 1960s when dance therapist Mary Whitehouse combined expressive dance and the Jungian notion of active imagination.
