The advanced course for senior dancers by choreographer Virva Talonen goes deeper into personal dance using different expressive and choreographic tools, working with motion born out of spatial and temporal perception. Dance is approached as a choreographic event from the double perspective of composition and watching/being watched with the objective of developing each dancer's capacity for presence, building on their present positions in time and space.
The sessions start with exercises that focus on aligning the body and improving strength and elasticity, continuing to improvisation and composition tasks and finally dancing together. Participating in the advanced course requires prior experience of contemporary dance.
Course languages are Finnish and English.
