The From Thinking to Choreography workshop is now arranged for the second time. The course can be taken as a continuation of the previous edition or as the first plunge into choreographic thinking. It is an introduction to various choreographic tools and notions, such as concept, spectator, stage, subject, duration, composition, physicality and motion. We explore the full scope of choreography from individual expressive motion to dance without a human performer.
My teaching is inspired by colleagues who research choreography, their performances and the input of course participants. In addition to independent work on the choreographies, course activities consist of discussion, planning and choreographic exercises.
The course concludes with an open-doors performance day. It is suitable for dance enthusiasts of all levels. / The course is open for both beginning choreographers and advanced dancers.
As requested by participants, this edition of the course features more time for independent work!

Janina Rajakangas is a choreographer/dancer based in Helsinki and London. Teaching, executive board work and public discussion focusing on art form an important part of her artistic practice. She is a founding member of Esitysradio, and has choreographed works including Over Your Fucking Body (with Neil Callaghan, 2019), Canary (2018) and Teen (2017). As a performer, she frequently collaborates with the London-based artists Frauke Requardt, Requardt & Rosenberg and Robert Clark.

Enrolment is binding. Cancellations must be communicated on the last enrolment day by 6pm the latest by email to zodiak@zodiak.fi. Please check this course's last day of enrolment from above. With the exception of injuries and illnesses certified in writing by a doctor, cancellations made later than the deadline are subject to full course fee. An administrative fee, 10 % of the course fee, will be charged from all cancellations.
