Three women beneath the ground, indulging in a cheerful putrefication party, not without jibes at gender stereotypes, and featuring an exquisite soundtrack. Soil Girl launches itself onto the stage with gale-force energy. Secret rooms and the dark side of the human mind inspire this visually arresting trio.
Ingeleiv Berstad, Kristin Ryg Helgebostad and Ida Wigdel choreograph a superb rampage: baring their teeth in an intimidating manner, they turn on the fans on a dimly lit stage and manage to charge even the smallest of gestures with subtle humour. Inspired by a poem from playwright Maria Tryti Vennerod, the artists explore the lust for the subterranean and the abysmal, and the longing for the earthy.
Choreographers Helgebostad/Berstad/Wigdel create performance art in dialogue with contemporary drama and dramatists. The characteristics of the Norwegian trio's work are visually strong concepts, intense outbursts and the withdrawal of energies, and a playful and experimental attitude towards performance art and dance.
