Sirkka Rukoilija & Elements Mini Ball & House of Disappointments & Club La Persé
Choreographer, dancer and performer Marika Peura’s Sirkka Rukoilija can be seen as a witch character. The point of departure for this work and character have been sexism and misogyny in Hip Hop culture, popular culture and in the society above all. A need and desire to deconstruct, re-interpret and re-define these cultures and the images that it feeds. In the work rhythms, rhymes, spells, poems and prayers get strong and exhaustingly physical bodily forms.
Elements Mini Ball is organized for the sixth time in Helsinki by Roza Ahmad aka Princess Coco Ninja. It has previously taken place at Putte’s Cellar. The event was born out of the vision to create a club night for the Finnish queer/QPoc voguing scene. During the night there are competition categories highlighting voguing, fashion and beauty. Coco Ninja has organized various of other dance events during the last couple of years, and also works as a dj and a photographer.
The House of Disappointments (HOD) is a creative club-kid collective that was born out of the need to bring color to everyday life back in 2017. House of Disappointments collective draws their inspiration from the fashion world, pop culture, drag queens and other club kids around the world. They tailor-make their original looks to a large extent from recycled clothing.
Club La Persé is Helsinki’s most exciting club night for Underground Music, Art and Self-expression, and the pioneer of the Finnish club Kidz culture. Everyone is welcome, and everyone is celebrated.
