Young people will fill the Zodiak Stage in the Dance School Tanssivintti’s Spring performance, featuring Tanssivintti’s Intensiivit group and the Young Dancers group, a joint project between Tanssivintti and Zodiak.
The evening will include performances commissioned for Intensiivit and the Young Dancers, from Imose Iduozee, Jessica Piasecki and Anna Torkkel. The evening will also feature the students' own solos, worked on in a workshop led by Sara Grotenfelt during the season.
The Young Dancers is a performing group jointly run by Tanssivintti and Zodiak, born out of the need to provide young dance enthusiasts with opportunities to practice performing and explore the processes of the work. Intensiivit is a group that has been active at Tanssivintti for decades, acting as a unique bridge between amateurs and the professional world.
For almost 40 years, Tanssivintti has been a dance school in Helsinki, actively working to bring dance as a hobby and as a professions closer together. The school's teaching consists of weekly open dance classes at an advanced level and of an advanced intensive programme. A particular aim of Tanssivintti is to act as a support network for young people who wish to pursue dance as an art form before they enter a possible professional dance training programme.
