Jane McKernan (AUS) and Maija Hirvanen (FIN) have been in residence with with Lizzie Thomson (AUS),Timothy Darbyshire (AUS), Satu Herrala (FIN) and Jarkko Partanen (FIN) at Campbelltown Arts Centre for 3 weeks in an artistic exchange which will continue over two years between Australia and Finland.
In this Artists’ Salon Maija and Jane will share a pavlova, talk about their individual practices, and enter into discussion about discoveries and surprises during the exchange. They will unpack the notion of exchange itself. What do we exchange? Why would we exchange?
Maija and Jane will touch on global (global/local) similarities and differences – family, childcare, education, food, communication, the shorthand language within western dance practice and dance community, and observe this exchange – instigation, participating artists, conversations, group dynamics and intersections of interests.
