The Body is Voice workshop by Heini Nukari strengthens the creative synergy between body and voice. We expand the expressive potential of voice through exploration of breath and motion. Exercises carried out solo, in pairs and as groups give us tools for finding new voice and motion patterns, and guide us towards comfortable, creative improvisation. How can your own voice inspire motion? How does motion support the physical qualities of voice? How do they resonate together? The Body is Voice workshop supports each participant's individual journey to his or her body, yet never forgets the positive synergy that is produced when a group of people stop to listen to each other.
The weekend workshop and the weekly sessions are open for everyone interested in motion and voice-based expression. You can participate in the weekend workshop, the weekly sessions, or both. Professional dancers and performing artists are also welcome!

Heini Nukari is a dancer who finds sound and motion equally powerful modes of expression. She has explored their relationship through improvisation, making music, field recordings and the Body is Voice method. In her teaching, she draws on her long experience as a performer and an explorer of the potential of the human body. She is inspired by techniques such as Roy Hart Theatre's Sound Method, the Release Technique, contact improvisation, butoh dance, yoga, qigong, Body-Mind Centering and Authentic Movement.

Enrolment is binding. Cancellations must be communicated on the last enrollment day by 6 pm the latest. Please check this course's last day of enrollment from above. With the exception of injuries and illnesses certified in writing by a doctor, cancellations made later than the deadline are subject to full course fee.
Zodiak's courses and workshops can also be paid using pre-paid Liikuntaseteli and Kulttuuriseteli vouchers (Smartum Oy) as well as Virikeseteli vouchers (Edenred Oy). You can pay with the vouchers in the beginning of the first class or you can bring the vouchers to Zodiak office (open weekdays 11 am to 4 pm). It is not possible to pay the course fee with cash.
