The course by Anni Rissanen and Vappu Rossi experiments with different ways of combining dance and visual arts. The course focuses on drawing a picture on the basis of perception and, on the other hand, kinaesthetic sensation.
Course activities consist of drawing a live model using the traditional croquis method and of trying out new ways of capturing a moving body on paper. Croquis is a quick body sketch of a live model. The part of the course focusing on live drawing consists of exercises where various new methods and procedures are introduced and tried out, proceeding from still postures to slow movement, then dance.
An important part of the course is formed by a series of physical exercises that stimulate kinaesthetic perception and build awareness of posture and movement in relation to space and other people. Physical exercises are used to free and relax the body and the mind to open up and achieve a full, comprehensive level of expression. Drawings are understood as produced through physical experience and perception.
The course looks for new ways of drawing and painting motion and of experiencing the physical sensation of drawing. It also includes an opportunity to try out motion-based drawing in a contemporary dance performance.
The course is suitable for both visual artists and dancers – and everyone interested. No previous experience is required.

Cancellations must be communicated no later than seven days before the course begins. With the exception of injuries and illnesses certified in writing by a doctor, cancellations made later than seven days before the course or workshop are subject to full course fee.
