The contemporary dance legend Deborah Hay (USA) gives a week-long workshop for performing arts professionals at the end of March. Prior knowledge of Hay's theory of dance is a prerequisite.

"It is what I cannot name or point at in watching dance that keeps me interested in dance. My choreography is embedded with invisible directives that invite the performer to constantly be in the act of reorganizing herself. What is it like to participate in choreography that has very little to do with movement? Is there music in the silence of dancing? Is it possible to see the balance between the impossibility of doing a movement ‘right’ and the thrill from not being asked to?"

The workshop is arranged in collaboration with University of the Arts / Theatre Academy Helsinki.

Monday to Friday 23–27 March at 12–18 (30 hours)
Place: Teatterikorkeakoulu, class room 525
