The workshop given by Anni Rissanen and Vappu Rossi focuses on exercises and experiments that explore the dialogue between image and movement. Some of the activities concentrate solely on drawing, but the principal focus of the workshop is in the dialogue between the two art forms. From movement to image, from image to movement – taking observation, the anatomical structure of the human body and close exploration of trajectories and qualities of movement as the starting points. We also perform activities that stimulate proprioception (the body's ability to sense position and movement) working in groups, in pairs and solo. The course is good for beginners and advanced dancers alike. No earlier experience of dance or drawing is required.

The following materials are required:
– Drawing block, size A2 or A3
– One black sheet of paper, size A2 or A3
– One coloured sheet of paper (grey, brown or other colour), size A2 or A3
– Graphite pencil, recommended grade B2–B6
– One marker pen, thickness: medium
– White/light drawing implement, such as crayon or colour pencil
– Other drawing implements as you like, such as pencils, colour pencils, crayons, fibre-tip pens, markers or brush pens. No pens or pencils that require fixative treatment.
