Our introductory course on countertechnique consists of a training class and an introduction to the underlying principles and theory of countertechnique.
Jussi Nousiainen's countertechnique class makes your body more flexible, more co-ordinated and stronger. It provides opportunities for really sweating it out, building stamina and exploring movement in space to the full while constantly challenging your mind and your body.
The aim of countertechnique practice is to provide tools for taking risks in movement when required, moving economically and learning to change direction of movement quickly. It responds to the challenges of contemporary dance practice, providing physical and mental tools for dancers through actual practice and hands-on experience, yet always with a solid theoretical foundation. The objective of the course is to put together theory and practice and give time to absorb the new ideas, make insights and experiment. All you need is an open, exploring mind.
Key questions include: How to move in a big way and utilise space to the full? How to move with less effort and less wear on your body? How to go beyond your mental and physical limits?
