Nordic Next fosters the development of contemporary choreography by creating a Nordic network for mentoring, residencies, co-production and touring with the aim of advancing creation on a bigger scale.
The aim of the project is to develop artistic thinking and extend the production and performance cycle of contemporary dance in Nordic countries. In its current state, the initial production of dance works is expensive, life cycles are short, and few works find their way to wider dissemination and meet larger audiences. This project responds to this challenge.

Zodiak – Centre for New Dance is a key producer of and venue for contemporary choreographies and performances in Finland. Zodiak also actively engages in diverse outreach work that stems from Zodiak’s productions and the community of artists and participants around it. Zodiak’s program is artistically curated and primarily based on open applications. Zodiak is supported by the Finnish Ministry of Education, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and the City of Helsinki.
Zodiak is the presenting partner of Nordic Next, acting as the leader and convener of Nordic Next.
BIT Teatergarasjen

BIT Teatergarasjen co-produces and presents Norwegian and international performing arts with a specific emphasis on projects that encourage international collaboration and transcend artistic genres. BIT Teatergarasjen drives innovation and commits to showcase groundbreaking dance, theatre, and performance, including the facilitation of a relevant discourse program.
In addition to the season program, BIT Teatergarasjen curates and produces two festivals with a focus on international impulses and tendencies within dance and theatre. The biennials OKTOBERDANS and METEOR are presented every October and have a solid international recognition, unique in their genre in Norway. They have, amongst other, had the function as showcase events for Norwegian artists towards an international market, and thus been vital for the increasing export of Norwegian performing arts.
Carte Blanche - The Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance

Established in Bergen in 1989 and based in Studio Bergen, Carte Blanche tours and develops artistic activities in Norway and internationally. Under artistic direction of French choreographer Annabelle Bonnéry, the company commissions choreographers involved in questions of social issues through dance. Bonnéry has expanded the company’s program aimed at diverse audiences as part of its audience development and sustainability focused framework for touring. Carte Blanche produces new creations every season, creating an exciting and unique repertoire of high quality, underpinning the company’s goal to be an innovative forerunner, presenting, and developing contemporary dance in Norway and abroad.
Carte Blanche will contribute by providing support to the chosen artists such as workshops and residencies in our space.
Cullberg

Cullberg is the national and international repertoire contemporary dance company in Sweden, continuously co-creating to make cutting edge dance relevant for the many. Together with choreographers from all over the world, we are exploring ideas on how dance can be defined, produced and presented. Those explorations are the pillars of a company that is constantly in motion at the heart of the international arena. Cullberg’s works emerge from the times we are living in, as part of the socio-political environment including equality, diversity and sustainability.
Cullberg is a collaborative partner within the project Nordic Next.
Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival / Stora Teatern

Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival is a biannual celebration of international performing arts and happens in Gothenburg with surroundings for ten days in August. We present an interdisciplinary programme that spans over contemporary dance, theatre, performance and circus. Through generous collaborations with venues across the city the festival can present works to our audiences in various spaces as well as outdoors. Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival carries an important role as platform and meeting point for international collaborations, co-production and support for new and sustainable artistic creation.
