Fluvial is a corporeal and vocal stage meditation on and through fluid states, streams, holes and unruly substance. Woven through breath, motion, saliva and a language in flux, it is an attempt at channeling fluctuating affects, ages, times and unthought known in a state of constant becoming.

I drop into my insides and disappear while becoming intensely my body.

Allow myself to be penetrated and moved by fluid forces invisible to the eye.

I move without pause and have no time for thinking. Lightly leaking my inside out and letting the outside leak in (which is which?)

I collide with jelly. It speaks. Oh wow.

Fluctuating ages and time.

I collide with wonder horror pleasure or sorrow

Now - where is I?

Fluvial* is a corporeal and vocal stage meditation on and through fluid states, streams, holes and unruly substance.

Sensitizing herself to the hollows, pores and thresholds of body, psyche and self, perceiving the motion between inside and outside, dancer Karolina Ginman tempts a range of fluid states from which the intuitive, sensual body operates.

Engaging poetically with breath, holes, jelly and the fantasies they arouse, she speaks to you “below” the reasoning mind and invites you to wonder and freely associate with her beyond reason. Traveling intensely, lightly, gently or frantically through preconscious terrains, she plays near the uncontrollable, ungraspable wobbly and unthought known.

Woven through breath, motion, saliva and a language in flux, Fluvial embraces you in an ocean of harmonies of hordes of horns - a dreamy universe composed with and by sound designer, saxophonist Aki Päivärinne.

The creative process of Fluvial leaks out and is leaked into through a written exchange between Ginman and actor Rasmus Slätis, whose parallel solo work premiers in the autumn of 2022.
