In the course led by Eeva Juutinen, we let our attention flow inside and outside the body, observing the diverse personal and collective experiences and reflections that arise from the exercises.

Eeva’s course include various exercises, some of which are physical and some more gentle, as well as some writing. The class begins with a moment of shifting our focus to our bodies, followed by collective, spatial and energising unison exercises accompanied by movement, breath and sound. Afterwards, we engage in a longer improvisation exercise, which Juutinen often incorporates into her choreographic work, and then discuss and write about the experience. The class ends with a partner exercise inspired by somatics, which may include light touch. However, the exercises can also be done without using any touch. The emphasis, order, and length of different sections may vary in each class. In the course music might be used in some practices and some are done in silence. We will also work little bit with dried plants and flowers.

Eeva Juutinen is a choreographer and dance artist who studied in Belgium and London before graduating from the University of the Arts Helsinki's Theatre Academy with an MA in Choreography in 2022. Juutinen's works have been presented at Contemporary Art Space Kutomo, the Stage of Contemporary Performance in Studio Pasila, Kunsthalle Helsinki, HAM Helsinki Art Museum, and Maa-Tila Project Space. She is interested in exploring her own performativity and physicality as inspiration for her choreographic work.
